Windows 7 RC

Despite my promise to never, ever again build a computer from scratch, I just couldn't pass up this deal for an athlon cpu/asus mobo combo at Newegg along with a free year of Windows 7. And thank goodness I did as hardware technology has come a long way since the last time I set mobo jumpers & fiddled around with creating custom boot disks with fdisk & cdrom drivers, etc... etc... What a mess that was! Kids sure have it easy these days, just pop in the cpu, ram, hdd, blu(e)ray drive & load up Windows 7 straight up after a quick stroll through the bios! I've heard people say Windows 7 is what Vista should have been all along. I wouldn't know, I think XP still works great. Don't think I'll be upgrading my current XP machine until it breaks down. Microsoft sure came up with a great business model by giving away Win 7 free until June 2010. So far it's worked flawlessly from setup to updates & hardware & software compatibility. I suspect many out there will jump on the bandwagon & come June 2010 there will no doubt be a strong demand for a legit copy & thus, plenty of cashola in Microsofts bank account. Just don't get too attached, who knows what they'll charge for it!?!
