McDonald's, Super-Size me, please!

Remember the lawsuits, the outrage, the movie? Well mickydees is slowly crawling out from the shadows of appeasement with their recent "48oz for 69 cents" soda promo. . Their cautious stance is evident from the lack of "super" in anything they sell and the fact that you cannot add this new drink size to a combo meal. Remember the "bucket o fries" promo? I think it was part of a family deal thing and the shamefully cheap hamburger/cheeseburger era..... Ahhh the gluttony, the stomach cramps, the antacids! The good old days.
Why do we hate companies for giving us what we crave, and then blame them for "making us wanting it??? I remember a class on brand marketing in jr high, it was explained in part as creating a need, and making you think that if you don't buy it now, you'll never have the opportunity to fulfill that desire ever again (at this once in a lifetime low-low price)... It was a true statement, no doubt. Well, mind you that this was taught within the context of "markerting is evil" by the Swedish public school system, by the same teacher who gave us accounts of how she used to mastrubate as a teen and god only knows what else I've tried to erase from my memory. Secularism at its best folks, but back on topic. I don't care if you're a militant vegan activist on a crusade to save humanity (and all the little fluffy bunnies) from the evil empires of the world. You've been there, hated yourself for being a glutton, for stuffin' too much stuff in your mouth and feeling like shit afterwards. It's human nature for crying out loud! Denial and blame also fit into that category. So isn't it obvious that we find it so easy to blame someone but ourselves for making the wrong choices in life? So, mickydees got slammed for being the king of creating cravings a few years back. But the need, the cravings were already there, they just gave you the choice to fulfill it! When applying the same standards to the rest of the consumer industry, wouldn't that make anything bigger than a 12oz soda illegal? Costco would have to close its doors and haagen dazs would only be available on the black market..... The whole concept of legislative portion control is rediculous and only serves to further the problem by feeding the rather ignorant thought/assumption that you really have no control of your own ego. Nuff said, I'm off to suck down a couple of Big Macs! And I won't blame the resulting indigestion on anyone but me.
