The cost of Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta

So you wanna start creaming the competition in Halo 3... I did, and this is an account of what you gotta shell out for that privilege!
I didn't plan on actually getting a 360 until Halo 3 comes out later this year, figured that by then the Elite system would be readily available, and perhaps even "used" to save a few bucks. But the thought of missing the opportunity to play this massively anticipated game was hard to shove aside, and a quick trip to Costco solved my first problem. $537.99 gets you the Arcade bundle with an extra controller, charge kit and Arcade unplugged collection. Why pay extra for the bundle? Because Costco has a 90 day return policy... and I intend on taking full advantage of that.
Since I missed out on the promos and contests for an invitation code to play the beta , I picked up a copy of Crackdown (with the Halo 3 Beta sticker) at Circuit City for $64.93. That brings the total to.... $602.92
Now you could use the 30 day trial Gold membership, but for arguments sake let's add another $54.11 for a 1 year Live Gold membership. Grand Total = $657.03
Some will claim that you've gotta be a freaking idiot to pay that much for the sake of playing a game that isn't even complete, in that case, just smile and hand them the controller.
